Visit of Very Important Grandchildren (VIG)

The Museum received a group of very excited grandchildren on a special visit on Tuesday 5 February. Although there were the cheerful sounds from the pre-school children going about their daily routine. our group of grandchildren were a little older but just as excited as the pre-schoolers. Our group are the descendants of some of Ginninderra and Hall's early pioneers.
The group consisted of granddaughters of George Kendall Kinlyside (Coachbuilder, Wheelwright, Blacksmith and Undertaker) and the great granddaughters of Susan Hollingsworth (Licencee of Cricketers Arms Hotel) - Pat Kinlyside, Joan Christie and Eileen Wignall; grandson of Ebeneezer Brown (Shopkeeper) Bevis Brown; grandson of Charles Thompson (School Teacher) - John Thompson; grandson of Richard Southwell (Farmer at 'Brooklands') on one side and grandson of James Kilby (Butcher) - Kingsley Southwell; grandson of William Morris (Bootmaker, Bicycle Repairer, Barber and Banker) - Tony Morris.
The 'Friends of Hall School Museum' put on a morning tea to celebrate the special event. This informal gathering gave these 'grandchildren' a chance to recall memories of their grandparents and to share amusing stories of Hall in the old days.
The information that the group shared provided the Museum team with valuable background for the 'Hall and District 1913' exhibition to be staged in April.
