More pioneer descendants

6 November 2017

It is always pleasing when descendants of the district's pioneer families find their way to the Centre. On Sunday 5th November we welcomed John Gozzard and his wife Marion, together with Bill and Margaret Morris.

John Gozzard is the great grandson of Henry Gozzard who arrived in Australia in 1854. Henry acquired land by two marriages, and established a family home called 'Aston' - after the Birmingham district he came from. John's grandfather Arthur built a house and lived in Hall for while. You can read more about the Gozzard family elsewhere on this site. The visiting Morrises are related to our own Tony and Margaret. John is helping us record the family story for our on-line database 'Rediscovering Ginninderra'.

Our photo show the visitors in front of Morris Bootmakers shop in our Victoria Street mural.
