Try, Mr John F.

John Francis Try, teacher at Glenwood school from October 1908 - June 1916, married lvy Annie Grace Southwell, daughter of James and Hannah Southwell of 'Heywood", Wallaroo, at Wattle Park Methodist Church on 20 December 1911. The ceremony was conducted by the bride's brother, Rev Norman Southwell. Their children were Richard Kendall and Gwendoline Ruth.

He became the first secretary of the Wattle Park Sabbath School with his wife the treasurer. The Cradle Roll Supervisor was Mrs John Southwell of 'Carrington' who, before marrying, was Ada Hazell, teacher at Bedellick School. John Try was a member of the Ginninderra Farmer's Union Show Committee in 1915. After Mrs Try's parents moved to Sydney, the couple lived in the 'Heywood' homestead until he was transferred in 1916.
