On Saturday 29 September we had a special visit from a trio of Southwells who are descendants of Samson Southwell and his wife Elizabeth (Veness). They were particularly keen to see the Bible that belonged to Elizabeth Veness, which he had tracked down to its present keeping with Tony and Margaret Morris. The Bible currently features in the 'Tale of Two Villages' exhibition in a display concerning the district's churches and church-goers. Items relating to the Southwell family can be found throughout the Centre's many displays, and we are now also 'home' to the Southwell Family Society, so there was plenty for the visitors to see.
