On Tuesday 23 March we were pleased to host a group of 22 University of Canberra students as part of their Preventive Conservation course. Under the leadership of Lecturer Ian Batterham a small group of students was assigned to each main area of the Centre, where they undertook an audit of environmental conditions from the conservation point of view.

This included external examination of the building (flood or fire risks?), internal light and temperature conditions, and presence of pests or vermin. The groups were at work for a couple of hours, and each student will be preparing a written report. Ian Batterham has been bringing groups of his students to the Centre for several years, and it was good to welcome him back again after having missed last year because of the pandemic.
