Fowler, Mr Edward ('Ted')

Ted Fowler's daughter contributed the following information that Ted Fowler compiled on his early teaching years for a reunion of Wagga Wagga Teachers College:

".....I received a transfer to Yass (1954) where I met Sid Dean. Six months later a single lady who couldn't get accommodation in the rough town of Captain's Flat was sent to Yass & I had to take her place.

At 'The Flat' I met Ian Brewster, Elaine Hargreaves & Lorna Jermyn. Ian & I played table tennis at a typical old saloon. Both of us were in demand at local dances being young & eligible. Once I travelled to Major's Creek where John Skene was teaching.

About a year later a married woman decided to return to teaching & yours truly was shunted off to the Cooma district. I had a small school at Shannon's Flat (1955). Teachers from the Snowy area used to go into Cooma on a Saturday for some social interaction. Here I met up with Margaret Parker & Kev.O'Callaghan......."

The Shannons Flat photos are from his time at the school.
