ACT Minister for Heritage Rebecca Vassarotti hosted a delightful gathering at the Mulligan's Flat information Centre Wildbark in Throsby on Tuesday 15th August to announce the 2023-2024 Heritage Grants.
Earlier this year, the Centre submitted two grant applications and both were successful. Phil Robson will Manage a Conservation and Training project ($9,800) which will involve purchasing new storage materials for our ever-expanding collection and provide training for our wonderful volunteers, updating their skills with the latest conservation and storage techniques.
The second grant ($4,200) is to supply and fit block-out blinds for the Centre's education spaces. Mardie Troth, who manages the Education Program, will manage this project. The Centre hosts hundreds of school students each year who come to learn about how people lived in the past and how technology has changed the way we live. The block-out blinds will help to minimise the impact of UV sunlight on the artefacts on display.
